UTL_HTTP, Oracle Wallet and SSL trouble

27 February 2012

A common problem springs out when Oracle procedures (either PL/SQL or Java) make attempt to get data from remote source via HTTPS. On first run usually the error “No trusted certificate found” appears

This topic is quite well covered in Oracle documentation. Recently I found also a very good article by Jeff Hunter, describing the hole process visually.

The only thing I’d like to add is one causing many trouble even if all steps described are done correctly. This is: the wallet must be created and owned by the user under which credentials Oracle executes. While this is not absolutely mandatory many problems will disappear at all if it is done so. This will also backup the security of the system.
